About Magnetic Island
Magnetic Island supports a resident population of about 2,500 and a variety of holiday resorts. It is known as the only Island in North Queensland Coast with such a delightful blend of untouched National Park and easy access to magnificent beaches, and walking tracks.
In fact there are 24 km's of walking tracks through the park that offer a glimpse to visitors of a haven for wildlife such as rock wallabies, possums, koalas and a wide variety of bird-life.
The Island averages over 320 days of sunshine per year and is only 25 minutes by fast "Cat" from Townsville, with services running approximately every 2 hours between 6am and 12pm. When you arrive on the island you are greeted by an array of sizeable granite boulders which are positioned among tall Hoop Pine trees, Eucalypt forest and pockets of rainforest. There are many easily accessible superb sandy beaches on the island, with others you can explore only by boat or at the end of a walking trail
In recent times Magnetic Island has attracted significant investment and the completion of the new ferry terminal, harbour and waterfront land development less than a kilometre from the resort has seen sales in excess of $700,000 for vacant land.
Even more significantly the local authorities have received a massive $300 million in development applications. It should be no surprise: Once you have witnessed the beauty of the Island and enjoyed the great lifestyle if offers, you will appreciate how easy it is to come back and explore a little more.
The Resort
The Magnetic International Resort is now only a short stroll through quiet streets to the new Island ferry terminal which is the lifeline for the islands residents and visitors alike. A whole range of new businesses have grown up around the new development and offer a great choice of facilities for everyone on the island.
The four star resort brings a touch of civilization to the natural surrounds and is set amidst lush subtropical landscaping and manicured lawns, the resort's suites capture the essence of island living. Open, breezy living areas and spacious verandas which perfectly frame the surrounding tropical setting.
The current owners of the resort have spent many hundreds of thousands of dollars in the representation and renovation of the pool area as well as all the suites benefiting from a complete repaint and the replacement of all the units soft furnishings.
The resort facilities are numerous and include an indoor and outdoor a-la-carte restaurant overlooking the stunning pool area which is fringed by magnificent palms. Alongside the restaurant sits a comfortable bar offering a range of enticing cold drinks which can be either enjoyed over a game of pool or relaxing on the terrace.
The setting to countless romantic weddings, Magnetic International Resort also includes two fully equipped convention and function rooms, allowing business meetings and seminars to take place in a quiet distraction free location.
The resort also features a well equipped Gymnasium and a games room for the young at heart. Not to mention the children's playground for the very young at heart. Nearby the games room and Gymnasium are two full size tennis courts and a guest BBQ area, if you feel like doing your own thing
The Management Team
The Management Rights, Restaurant and Bar were purchased by two companies in partnership - Marphen Pty Ltd, which is owned by Steve and Martene Dawson and Halmarn Pty Ltd, which is owned by Donald McGrath.
Steve and Martene are well known in the resort accommodation industry and own Resort Brokers Sunshine Coast a successful business which sells resorts throughout Queensland.
Negotiations with a leading hotel brand are in the final stages in relation to them taking over the wholesale marketing of the Magnetic International Resort. This company is very well regarded in the Resort accommodation industry and one would expect to see a significant rise in occupancy along with a larger return to the unit holder.
Both Steve and Martene are fully licensed agents and Martene will be the licensee of the Magnetic International Resort business.
Donald McGrath (Bill to his friends) and his partner Donna are the onsite managers. They will be responsible for the day to day running of the property which will include the management of the office and reception, overseeing the gardeners, contractors and housekeeping as well as the restaurant and bar.
Donald has spent the past 12 years as Managing Director for Shorex Specialists. This company handles the inbound tour operations for cruise companies
The Units
 The 96 units within the Resort are each located within one of 16 single level buildings, spread throughout 6 acres of tropically landscaped gardens.
Depending on your needs they can be broadly described as either being studio style units with private bathroom, and a small kitchen area or a one bedroom unit style property, with some units having connecting doors.
The units are now complete after a substantial refurbishment and also have had the interiors completely repainted to ensure a consistently high standard of presentation, the improvements have included the replacement of all soft furnishings within the rooms.
